Sad News for NY Juicy Girls: Madison Ave Store To Close

Juicy Couture's store on Madison Avenue in Manhattan will close. Although I personally did not visit that location as much as the Fifth Avenue flagship store, I will miss seeing Juicy whenever I am on the Upper East Side. To read more, click here for an article from The Cut.

My Juicy Collection: Gold "Rock the Bag" Tote

For Christmas, I received the "Rock the Bag" tote in gold. The bag is made of metallic gold leather with "Choose Juicy" written in glittery silver.

The interior is pink fabric with gold rings printed on it. It also features a zippered pouch and a pocket for a cell phone.

I just adore these new Juicy Couture sandals for spring! They have a wedge heel and "toe ring" thong. The heel says "Juicy" in a fancy white script. I also love the flowers on them! So far I have only seen these shoes on Zappos.com. They are priced at $74.95 which is reasonable considering a pair of regular Juicy Couture sandals are around $50. These shoes are also available in blue.

Juicy Couture Spring 2009 Charms Go "Under the Sea"

Several of Juicy Couture's new charms for spring are adorable sea creatures. You can wear all these charms together, or pick a favorite! These charms are perfect for an aquatic life, or those who just dream of one!

The "Clam" charm retails for $52. It is coral colored on the outside with a large stone and crystals, and it opens to reveal a pearl with the words "Juicy Couture."

Finding Juicy Couture at Discount Stores

I am sure many of you have a new year's resolution to spend less money. But just because you are trying to save money does not mean you have to cut out Juicy Couture! There are many great discount stores where you can find Juicy items for considerably less money than the retail price! Most of these stores sell Juicy Couture items for 50% off or cheaper! Here is a list of my favorite discount stores to find Juicy at!

Nordstrom Rack: This is a discount store that sells items originally from Nordstrom at a much lower price. Many items are from last season or even older. I have found many great Juicy Couture t-shirts at the Rack. I don't mind that they are older than those in the department store. Sometimes I will find clothes that I don't remember seeing before that I actually like better than the new ones! Nordstrom Rack mainly has a lot of Juicy Couture clothes, but they also have a selection of handbags and jewelry. It depends on the location.

Saks Off 5th: This is the discount store for Saks Fifth Avenue. Off 5th also carries a lot of older Juicy Couture apparel as well as accessories. I have mainly bought clothes from this store, but I also have bought several pairs of Juicy flip-flops there as well.

Neiman Marcus Last Call: I have only been to this store on vacation since there isn't one near my home, but the times I have visited I have noticed an assortment of Juicy Couture clothing and accessories.

Century 21: If you ever visit New York, you must check this store out! I often visit the location in downtown Manhattan (near Wall Street). Though it is always crowded, it is usually worth the trouble. I have bought many cute Juicy t-shirts there. They always have a large selection of tracksuits. I occasionally see handbags there as well, but unfortunately I have never seen any jewelry.

TJ Maxx: This is a popular chain of discount stores. Though it depends upon the location, I have spotted Juicy Couture handbags and a small selection of jewelry at various stores.

Loehmann's: I have been to both Loehmann's locations in Manhattan, but the one in Chelsea is my favorite. They have a great selection of Juicy Couture accessories and jewelry. I also visited the Loehmann's in Scottsdale, AZ, while I was on vacation. That store was much smaller but had a lot of Juicy clothes.

My Juicy Collection: "Juicy Revolution" Pink Shortsleeve Tee

I bought this pink Juicy Couture t-shirt a few months ago at Century 21. The tee has an image of a woman who resembles Marie Antoinette, along with the words "Juicy Revolution" and "Let Them Wear Couture." The slogan is a play on the infamous words "Let them eat cake" commonly attributed to the Queen.

A new arrival on Nordstrom's website is this Juicy Couture t-shirt. The design on the tee is inspired by "old-school tatoos," such as anchors, swallows, and stars. But don't worry if you're afraid this tee isn't girly enough. There are plenty of classic Juicy images like a crown and a heart. The style of the top is loose and swingy for a casual but chic look. The tee retails for $78.

Another of the Juicy Couture gifts I received for Christmas is this black t-shirt with "Juicy" printed in metallic gold. The tee is a lot longer than most of my other Juicy tops. It could probably be worn as a tunic over leggings. The tee came wrapped in Juicy's classic tootsie packaging.

Here are some photos I took of the new Juicy Couture store in Scottsdale, Arizona. The store is located in the Kierland Commons shopping center. The store is rather small, and only carries women's clothing and accessories, though it is slightly larger than the store at 103 Fifth Avenue in New York. There is a larger Juicy Couture store at the Scottsdale Fashion Square.

This Juicy Couture swimsuit caught my eye because of it's interesting shape. It appears to be similar to the "cut-out" style one piece that was a very popular trend last year. Those style swimsuits made me nervous because they looked like they could be the cause of a wardrobe malfunction. However, this Juicy Couture one seems much more secure, and much more chic (some swimsuits can be quite tacky in their effort to be sexy). This swimsuit is available at Bloomingdale's for $160.

Ed Westwick Would Be Perfect for a "Dirty English" Campaign

Juicy Couture has never had a celebrity star in any of their ad campaigns, but if they ever do, Ed Westwick would be perfect for the men's clothing line, Dirty English. The fragrance Dirty English is deemed "the scent of irresistible bad boys all over the world." Ed Westwick exudes this bad boy image both on television as his Gossip Girl character Chuck Bass, and in real life as a heartthrob and lead singer of his rock band, The Filthy Youth. And he actually is English! What originally sparked this idea of mine was this image of Ed on set sporting a velour tracksuit:

I have never seen any guy pull off a tracksuit so well! And then today, while looking at Juicy Couture's website, I realized that tracksuit Ed was wearing is indeed by Juicy Couture (view it here)! This photograph could be a Dirty English ad in itself! And looking at the other men's clothing on the site, the clothes would work well for either the Chuck Bass character or for Ed Westwick himself. Maybe I'm still swooning over Ed due to last night's amazing GG episode, but I think it's a great idea! Pam and Gela are self-confessed Gossip Girl fans, so maybe it's a possibility! What do you Juicy fans think? Would Juicy Couture ever enlist a celeb for their ads, and is Ed Westwick a good idea?

My Juicy Collection: Knight in Shining Armor Charm

The knight in shining armor is probably my favorite Juicy Couture charm in my collection. I got this charm about four years ago. It is no longer available to purchase individually, however, it is now part of the "fairy tale" charm bracelet that retails for $138. The new version of the charm appears to be a brighter gold and the horse's tail is pink, whereas mine is white. You can tell my charm is from several years ago, because the box it comes in is black with a blue interior. The new charms come in a brown box with a pink interior.

I got this Juicy Couture t-shirt at Nordstrom three or four years ago. It was one of those deals where if you spent a certain amount you would receive a free shirt. There were two shirts to choose from: a white t-shirt with "Viva La Juicy" in black "spray paint" style, or this white t-shirt with "Juicy Bling Bling" written in a glittery fuschia script. I wanted the Viva La Juicy one, but they only had it in size Petite, so I had to go with the Bling Bling one. The last time I wore this top, which was probably over two years ago, my friends made fun of me for owning a shirt that had the words "Bling Bling" on it. I had to defend my t-shirt by telling them that I got it free. What do you other Juicy girls think? Is this shirt cute or embarrassing?

My Juicy Wishlist: Sequin Platform Espadrilles

This post is really an update to the previous one about my search for sequin sandals. I found this beautiful Juicy Couture sequin espadrilles on eLuxury for $79, plus an additional 25% off and free shipping! I never liked the espadrille style before, but these shoes are making me change my mind! They have a leather lining and are made in Italy, so they are obviously much better quality than most espadrilles. These shoes are very cute and much cheaper, but I still like the Leora sandals. Oh, what's a Juicy girl to do?

As I was thinking about Juicy Couture's swimwear event tomorrow, I realized I have no good sandals to take with me on my vacation that is a mere two weeks away! I am not really a shoe person. I just have a few pairs of shoes and wear them until they are completely worn out. One pair of very old shoes that I have are sequined flip flops that I bought many years ago. I attempted to find a similar pair online, and did a search on "sequin sandals." I had no luck finding a new version of my old shoes, but did find an amazing pair of Juicy Couture sandals that are a lot fancier than what I had in mind. I first spotted them on Zappos for $134.95, which is quite a high price. I searched for them elsewhere and could only find them on one other site, Jildor, for $87.75. They only have two sizes, and amazingly one of them is mine (size 8). These sandals are very beautiful and look well made, since they are leather after all! After doing a little more research, I would estimate these shoes are from the spring of this year (hence why they are so hard to locate). I just don't think I can bring myself to shell out that much money for sandals, no matter how gorgeous they are. Unless I have an extreme change of heart (and increase in cash) in the next week, these sandals will remain on my wishlist of things I want but will never have. (Sorry this post sounds like such a downer, but I get somewhat emotional when it comes to shopping, especially when I find things I can't have!)

Update: I found them on another site! They are available on footnotesonline.com for $67.50. They have sizes 8.5, 9, 9.5, and 10. I wish I could somehow try these shoes on, because maybe 8.5 would fit me (it would save me $20)!

Holly Madison, the former "Girl Next Door" and now girlfriend of Criss Angel, was spotted carrying a scottie dog print Juicy Couture tote bag! The canvas bag comes in many colors. Holly appears to be carrying the brown version (pictured below). Since the bag is from earlier this year, it is now difficult to find. Fortunately, Net-A-Porter still has the black, pink, and green version (my favorite) on sale for $157.50 here.

Juicy Couture is Among TheFind.com's Top Searches on "Cyber Monday"

TheFind.com, an online shopping search engine, released some information regarding their top searches on Monday, a day that some have termed "Cyber Monday." It is the first business day after Black Friday, and supposedly those who have gone back to work switch from shopping in stores to shopping online. From a press release on Business Wire:

As consumers look to capitalize on unprecedented sales this year, high-end fashion brands and fine jewelry searches were extremely popular despite the struggling economy. Designer names such as ‘Tory Burch,’ ‘Coach,’ ‘Juicy Couture’ and ‘Dior’ were the most often searched for designers [...]

“Even though the purse-strings are tightening this holiday season, parents are not skimping on their children’s holiday gifts as evidenced by their search behavior on Cyber Monday,” said Larisa Hall, Vice President of Marketing for TheFind Inc. “Even more interesting is how high-end designer brands are highly active search terms, suggesting that shoppers are expecting amazing deals this year and hoping to afford some designer wares at great prices. It is important to point out that we are seeing shoppers frequent both pure-play retailers as well as stores that have brick-and-mortar outlets. We believe that this illustrates how shoppers are becoming more savvy, and that the online and offline worlds are blurring. Shopping is about finding the best deal that can be had with the most convenience, and retailers that can appease the reality of a three-dimensional customer experience will be the ultimate winners.”

I'm not so sure I buy into this "Cyber Monday" idea. I haven't paid much attention in past years, but this year I actually did my online shopping earlier, since many sales started before Black Friday. For example, Neiman Marcus started their online sale on Thanskgiving day, offering an additional 40% off already reduced items. By the time Monday rolled around, the online sale was over and many of the best items were gone (two Juicy Couture t-shirts I bought for very low prices were actually sold out by Friday)!

Another t-shirt in my Juicy Couture collection is this very cute pink shirt with a Juicy crest complete with a Scottie and a crown. The design says "Glamorous Juicy Couture" on it, and is covered in beautiful pink crystals. I would guess this shirt is from about three years ago.

Here are photos of one of my older Juicy Couture shirts in my collection. I would guess this shirt is from three or four years ago, though I'm not exactly sure. It is a black longsleeve tee, with the words "Couture Lovin' Juicy" in white and a shiny silver heart shaped peace sign on it. The shirt is quite small and doesn't really fit me any more, otherwise I would still be wearing it today!

Nordstrom unveiled its "Ultimate Gift Collection" today. From Market Watch:

Nordstrom, Inc. announced today that the retailer is debuting the Nordstrom Ultimate Gift Collection online, a quartet of exclusive one-of-a kind gift packages created by some of the hottest names in the worlds of art and fashion including fashion designer Tory Burch, casual chic brand Juicy Couture, celebrity photographer Sam Jones and artist Ruben Toledo.

"Value and special items are two primary factors driving retail purchases today. As we all know, value has been top of mind for many customers in this climate. The other thing driving purchasing is when customers find items that are special and unique -- items they won't find anywhere else," said Nordstrom Full-Line Store President of Merchandising Pete Nordstrom. My Juicy Collection: Plush Scottie

Another addition to my Juicy Couture collection is this adorable plush Scottie dog! The plush dog is made by Gund and is wearing a Juicy Couture t-shirt! There are several versions of this toy out there. Currently Juicy Couture is selling the "I Love Juicy" version and the "Choose New York" version. It is the same dog, just different t-shirts. The toy may also be referred to as a Yorkie, but I like to think it is a Scottie since that is Juicy Couture's "mascot."

Pam Heads to San Francisco for Gallery Opening

Pamela Skaist-Levy appeared at a gallery opening of the works of painter Stephen Sumner. The party was held at the Serge Sorroko Gallery in San Francisco. An article on the San Francisco Chronicle's style blog, SF Unzipped, details the event and Pam's appearance:

Pamela Skaist-Levy, co-founder of Juicy Couture, flew up from Los Angeles with her husband, Jeff, just for the show. Good thing, too -- she snapped up two of the paintings, which ranged from $3,000 to $7,00 a piece"I'm honored to have them in my collection,'' she said. "I'll put them in my home."

What does one wear to a gallery show? In her case, just a little frock: a vintage copper-bronze flapper dress from the 1920s, Indian bracelets, a J. Mendel fur capelet and a vintage headband with ostrich plume.

Juicy Couture Mentioned on Financial Times

A Thanksgiving themed article on the Financial Times mentions Pam, Gela, and Juicy Couture. Here is an excerpt from the article:

Certainly, at their recent 5th Avenue store opening, Gela Nash-Taylor and Pamela Skaist-Levy, the Juicy Couture girls/creative directors, were giving thanks, using a big party where the Harlem Boys Choir sang "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "Smells Like Teen Spirit" in Juicy pink robes to "give back to the city and customers who give us so much", according to Nash-Taylor. (Literally "give": Juicy is currently a $600m company, and their chief executive thinks they can reach $2bn in five or so years, economy notwithstanding.)

"When things are bad you have to have fun!" said Nash-Taylor, pre-event. "Our Juicy family" - all 600 or so of them who showed up at the opening - "deserves it!"

After the party, Skaist-Levy and Nash-Taylor were heading back to Los Angeles, to their respective Thanksgivings in their respective "Georgian colonial" and "English manor" homes, where they would preside over tables in their respective "Martha Stewart-tastic" and "Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire" looks, the latter involving "long feathers in my hair," which is not normal Thanksgiving-wear (unless you were one of the original native Americans at the Plymouth feast) - but it is very Juicy.

Juicy Celebrity: Robin Williams

I expected to start the Juicy Celebrities category with someone much younger, but when I spotted this photo of Robin Williams sporting Juicy Couture on New York Magazine's website, I couldn't resist. The comedian is wearing the Juicy men's t-shirt that reads "Give 2 Receive." NYMag did not comment on the slightly surprising clothing choice, but I spotted it right away (that's what happens when you spend hours on end looking at Juicy Couture clothes online)! I then did a quick Google search: "Robin Williams Juicy Couture." Imagine my further surprise to find this article on BuzzFoto about Robin Williams' trip to the Juicy Couture store on Bleecker Street this Monday! The author of the article speculates that the Juicy Couture shopping bag contains a gift for Robin's daughter, but I suspect it is really for him (especially since the bag says Dirty English on it, which is the name of the men's line)! I never would have guessed that Robin Williams was a Juicy Couture fan, but that just goes to show that the brand appeals to wide range of people!

I have had my eye on this charm ever since I first spotted it on the Juicy Couture website. It is a New York exclusive, so currently it is only available at the four stores in Manhattan. However, it is available for pre-order on the website. I think it would look great paired with my horseshoe charm! It retails for $52.

I absolutely love this new Juicy Couture t-shirt that reads "JUICY VEGAS" in dazzling sequins. The sequins give it a splash of typical Las Vegas sparkle, but the color is more natural, like the desert that surrounds the city. A nice combination for a great t-shirt! And you don't have to fly to Vegas to get it! It is available on Saks Fifth Avenue's website here. It retails for $98.

Shopping at the Juicy Couture Store

There are tons of great things that make shopping at a Juicy Couture store much more fun than shopping at a regular department store. When you purchase something at the store, you get to take it home in an adorable shopping bag! The bag is pink with a brown bow on one side that reads "Love G&P" and on the other side, "Choose Juicy."

The receipt for your purchase comes in a miniature folder that reads, "The Juicy Damage."

Also included (for purchases made in New York) is a miniature map of Manhattan, the size of a credit card, with the four Juicy Couture stores located on it.

Here is another peek at the new Juicy Couture store's opening party, this time courtesy of The Wall Street Journal. The article and accompanying video use the expression "Recession? What recession?" to describe the party, and yet the reporter can't seem to talk about anything but the economy's woes. Pam and Gela seem much more optimistic, which I think is a vital attitude to have during tough times. Some times we just need to lighten up and have some fun, which is what I think the party was about, not some snobby dismissal of economic hardship like the WSJ seems to suggest. 650 Fifth Avenue

The newest Juicy Couture store in Manhattan opened at 650 5th Avenue about a month ago. The store is two levels of Juicy Goodness! The main level contains jewelry, perfume, accessories, intimates, the Mens department, and pet accessories. At the far right of store is a huge staircase that leads to the second level. The second level contains the shoe department, the Womens department, the Couture Couture department, Childrens department, tracksuit bar, and sale section. I absolutely love the way the store is decorated! A giant crystal chandelier hangs above the staircase, and on the wall is a huge tapestry made to look like one in a medieval castle, except of course it says Juicy Couture on it! There are also many animal heads (I'm not sure if they're real or not) hanging on the walls, wearing pearl necklaces and lipstick! A bit bizarre, but very cool nonetheless. I absolutely love the new store, it has the most Juicy Couture stuff I've ever seen in one place! Whether you are a New Yorker or visiting Manhattan as a tourist, this is a must see! I hope you enjoy my photographs of the store. The exterior shots were taken on October 5, before the store was actually open. The interior shots were taken on November 8, when Pam and Gela made a person appearance at the store!

I've been a Juicy Couture fan for five years now. I think it's safe to say that Juicy Couture is not just a fad, but truly here to stay. Due to the increasing popularity of the brand and the existence of several fan blogs on the web, I decided that I too would join in to spread the Juicy love to the rest of the world. I will share photos of my ever growing Juicy collection, details of my Juicy shopping adventures, and more!
